【重要】「がん薬物療法」領域のサブスペシャルティ正式承認と当科の取り組みについて

このたび、「がん薬物療法」領域が、日本専門医機構により正式にサブスペシャルティ領域として承認されましたことをご報告いたします。

これは、日本におけるがん薬物療法に携わる医師の専門性と質の公的な担保を確立する画期的な一歩であり、当院の腫瘍内科一同は、この制度の確立を歓迎し、より質の高い医療提供と次世代の専門医育成に貢献してまいります。

Official Recognition of “Medical Oncologist” as a Subspecialty and Our Department’s Initiatives

We are pleased to announce that the field of “Medical Oncologist” has been officially recognized as a subspecialty by the Japanese Medical Specialty Board.

This milestone represents a groundbreaking step toward establishing an official framework to ensure the professional qualifications and quality of physicians engaged in cancer pharmacotherapy in Japan. Our entire Department of Medical Oncology welcomes the establishment of this system and is committed to contributing to the provision of high-quality cancer care and the training of the next generation of oncology specialists.

1. For Patients: Further Enhancing the Quality of Cancer Care

Our Department of Medical Oncology specializes in state-of-the-art cancer pharmacotherapy, including chemotherapy, molecular targeted therapy, and immune checkpoint inhibitors.

The official approval of this subspecialty program will promote the standardization and improvement of cancer therapies nationwide, accelerating the transition from fragmented, discipline-based care to a globally standardized, specialist-driven care system.

In line with this development, we will further strengthen the continuous professional development of our physicians and enhance our system to provide safe and optimal treatments based on the latest evidence.

With this official recognition, the career pathway to becoming a certified Medical Oncologist has been clearly defined.
