Department of Medicine Basic Pedagogy

Overview

The Department of Medical Education, the Office of Teaching and Learning IR, English, Japanese, and Foreign Language and Culture in the School of Medicine merged to form the Department of Medicine Basic Pedagogy.
We educate female doctors who can understand patients' feelings and practice better medical care through lectures and practical training in academic skills, skills, attitudes, and culture to be acquired in the School of Medicine.
We are conducting research on the development of medical school curricula, medical education techniques, and evaluation methods, and are conducting PBL tutorials, team-based learning (TBL), and mini-CEX, a simplified clinical skills evaluation method which are widely used in medical schools across the country. We are also in charge of the Problem-Solving Assessment Test (P-SAT), which was originally developed by our university. We started them as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus infection from 2020 and are deeply involved in the realization of distance education as part of the development of future learning styles.
In addition, we oversee Faculty Development to enhance the educational capabilities of the medical school faculty. And the University's medical education was highly evaluated during the international external evaluation in 2012 and the field-specific medical education audits by the Japan Medical Education Evaluation Organization in 2019.
