Women’s Health

Overview

Traditionally, data in health care and policy have been based largely on information from men. There is a need to develop evidence-based health care that considers gender and individual differences in order to improve women's health throughout their lives.
In this field, we explore health issues at each stage of women's life stages and conduct research using a variety of approaches to solve these issues. For example, we will explore research to alleviate dysmenorrhea and other problems associated with hormonal changes unique to women, health issues related to young pregnancy and childbirth, and mental and physical health problems of women during menopause and strive to build care for them.
Another pressing issue is to explore the evidence-based practice necessary to diagnose the well-being, growth, and development of women, fetuses, and newborns during the perinatal period. We are also exploring the career development of midwives at each stage of their careers (new, mid-career, and skilled), and taking a multifaceted approach to midwives' motivation to continue in the profession and to form their identities. We welcome anyone who is interested in women's health or who has a strong desire to explore a career in midwifery as a highly specialized field.

Possible Research Themes

We can conduct research on a wide range of topics related to health issues at each stage of women's life, and, we can explore health issues among adolescent women, including young pregnancy.
It is also possible to work on research themes related to various aspects of the perinatal period, such as career development of midwives.
