The undergraduate school consists of a 6-year curriculum. It is occupied by about 660 students (110 per class). Each year, students enter the medical school after a competitive entrance examination. 95% of the students finish the course and almost all graduates pass the National Board of Examination immediately or within two years.
Apart from the academic, formal medical education, many social activities are also a part of campus life. The university recognizes 17 cultural and 19 athletic clubs. More than 95% of students participate in some social activities. The Eastern Conference of Medical School Students Sports Association is one of the biggest sports events in Japan, attracting some 15,000 medical students each year as of May 2015.
