ADMISSION
Tokyo Women’s Medical University Library is open to the faculty, staff, students, alumnae of the University, and to visitors permitted by the Director of the Library.

LOAN POLICIES
● Circulation
Present your ID card with the items to check out at the circulation counter.
  Loan period Number of items
Books One week Up to 5
Periodicals One week Up to 5
Audio-Visuals Three days Up to 3

● Returns
Borrowed items must be returned at the circulation counter. When the Library is closed, a “Return Box” is available outside the entrance of the Library.

● Renewals (for books only)
Bring books on the day or the previous day they are due and ask for a renewal at the circulation counter. Renewal of an item can be made only once, unless it is not reserved by another user.

● Overdue penalty
Fine for books and periodicals is 20 yen, 100 yen for audio-visual materials per each overdue day. If the overdue period exceeds 30 days or more, your loan service privilege will be suspended for three months.

● If a borrowed item is lost
The borrower must compensate a lost item. Ask the officer at the circulation counter for details.

● Reserving
Reserving materials in circulation or new-arrival items can be made at the circulation counter.

● Overnight loan
Reference books with "R" labels and textbooks with“オーバーナイト”labels can be borrowed only overnight. Overnight loan begins at an hour before closing and needs to be returned an hour after opening on the next day.

 

PHOTOCOPYING
Purchase a copy card and make photocopies by yourself. Return the items when finished. Materials in branch libraries can be ordered. Fill out the order form at the circulation counter.

 

INTERLIBRARY LOAN
The faculty, staff and students of the University may request interlibrary loans for materials not in the library.

 

SEARCHING

● Databases
Bibliographic databases for finding journal articles you need. --MEDLINE, EBM Reviews, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Science Citation Index, etc.

● Electronic journals
The Library provides access to many electronic journals. --ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Blackwell, MDConsult, Journals@Ovid, etc.
